Flamenco guitar online lessons from an internationally recognized guitarist
Understanding and playing the flamenco guitar is not just a matter of playing guitar for hours. It is about organizing the learnings and understanding the internal structures of each Flamenco style.
In short: “the best approach would be optimizing the study time through exercises that are adapted to your level“.
Flamenco guitar is organized in “flamenco styles”, these styles have an order that you must learn and integrate into your hands to be able to play as all flamenco guitarists play. This order is organized through different internal variations that make each flamenco style different and have its own personality. Once you have understood this key concept and can apply all these structures, then you will be thinking like a flamenco guitarist.
In my flamenco guitar lessons, the goal is to get my students to a point where they can think for themselves with confidence and know what they are doing at any given moment.
You can learn all this information and way of thinking with online flamenco guitar lessons.
Through different exercises, you will be able to understand flamenco music step by step and play as you would never have imagined.

I began lessons with Alvaro as a self-taught rock guitarist with no background in flamenco or classical guitar. He has an incredibly well-structured method for teaching the technique and soul of flamenco in manageable portions that build elegantly over time. I started playing actual flamenco immediately. I consider Alvaro to be an exceptional teacher, and now, a long-distance friend as well. I value the high standards he exemplifies and feel motivated to continually improve. I’ve been studying with Alvaro for a year and a half now and am so happy with what I have learned. Plus, a lesson with Alvaro is like having a once-a-week private concert from a flamenco master. Not to be missed!

New York - USÁlvaro distinguishes himself from other flamenco guitar teachers by the depth in his lessons: he teaches you to play flamenco guitar well and to understand why you play what you play. And that's how you learn to play real flamenco guitar with him.

Rotterdam - HollandHave been studying with Alvaro for at least two years. He is very knowledgable and always ready to answer any questions about the lesson. He is also patient to explain the elements of Flamenco. He is an excellent teacher.

Alabama - USIf you’re serious about learning how to play guitar, he’s your guy. I started with Maestro Álvaro online after I had tried two other guitar teachers. I worked with two other teachers for 5 weeks, but I still felt like I was learning nothing. They spoke in musical terms I wasn’t familiar with, so I just went along. After just one session with the Maestro I gained more knowledge and confidence on the guitar than having two other teachers. He got me at a stage where I couldn’t even hold the guitar right. Now I’m playing full pieces, and feeling very confident on the guitar. He’s main focus with me is technique, and building confidence on the guitar. He does give challenging music pieces and holds you to a standard. A great personality, reliable, patient, an all round great guy.

Munich - GermanyI am having lessons with Alvaro for almost 4 years now, definitely the best teacher I have ever had. We started a plan based on improving main techniques while playing all the flamenco Palos, but the most important thing is his way of teaching the rhythm, the foundation of each style starting from the roots. Flamenco guitar is not an easy journey, but understanding the Flamenco language was essential for me to play confidently.

Como - ItalyMy name is Samuel Elkuch. I‘m from Switzerland and i‘m a student of Alvaro. In the beginning i was pretty much a guitar beginner who started out with classical guitar. I always loved the sound of flamenco music and i was so curious about the techniques and the different flamenco styles. So i told myself to study flamenco music. For that i needed a great teacher who i can work with for a long time. Fortunately i found Alvaro, i was immediately hooked because i was so impressed with his guitar skills and he explained everything so good and clear. After about 2 months i was already able to play some cool falsetas and solea pieces to my family and friends. The highlights of my weeks are definately the flamenco lessons with alvaro because there is something new and exciting every week! You surely have already grasped from the text that i 100% recommend Álvaro.

Zurich - SwitzerlandI have known Alvaro for a few years now, first taking a few daily lessons while he was on tour in Canada, then (nominally) weekly via Skype, interspersed with a couple of weeks of daily lessons in Madrid. His approach for me is the traditional listen-to-learn method somewhat adapted for a student from outside the culture with some classical guitar training. The focus is on specific falsetas with some technical and (especially) melodic/rhythmic ideas. I have found him a patient, generous teacher willing to help me work both on the things I want to and the problems I don’t see.

Regina - CanadaI studied flamenco guitar with Alvaro during a long stay in Madrid. As a teacher, he finds a balance between rigorous and careful technique and the emotion and joy of the music. He not only helped me establish a strong foundation as a player, he joined me on a day trip to Seville where he helped me find and select a beautiful flamenco guitar. He is a wonderful teacher and a delightful person whom I now think of as a friend.

California - USI have been getting flamenco lessons for over ten years and never met a teacher like Alvaro Antona. He is absolutely unique in that he combines a full understanding of Flamenco and its roots, he has the swing of a naturally born Flamenco musician, but most importantly and unique, Alvaro has developed a rigorous teaching method that I have never found in any other Flamenco guitar maestro". He applies his method with utmost professionalism and discipline. An eye opener for me. My only maestro

Madrid - SpainÁlvaro is an extraordinary flamenco guitar teacher. I come from the blues/rock tradition and always thought my right-hand could never manage the acrobatics involved in flamenco guitar. Luckily, Alvaro enlightened me to think in a totally different way and I now improve my flamenco technique every single day. He truly is a master and a guide! Hats off to Maestro Alvaro!!

Brighton - UKI have studied intermittently with Alvaro for several years now, and am extremely grateful to him for all the support he has given as a teacher. He methodically guided me through the basics of flamenco, and has since helped me to build on this foundation. When I have difficulties with concepts, he reintroduces them in different contexts and clarifies the areas until the point has been grasped: luckily for me, Alvaro has always been a very patient and thorough teacher. Alvaro carefully explains and demonstrates the various forms and techniques of flamenco, put them in the context of the dance, song, or guitar solo. Alvaro opened up the world of flamenco for me, and for this, I cannot thank him enough.

Tanger - MaroccoWhat I liked about your masterclass was the way that you told us about the origin and culture of flamenco society at first. That each city has it's own color and smell in flamenco style and the main part is south of Spain. And you made an effort to teach us and help us to understand the rhythm. Also about yourself maestro, in my idea you have a good behaviour.. With a good sense of humour in class but at the same time you are strict .That its good .you can manage the class very well and your class is energetic and not boring .

Tehran - IranFlamenco has always a special place in my life and it is an endless journey in my guitar learning. Alvaro, he was my first guide and teacher in this journey. He did not only show us the original playing technics, different palos, falsetas, rhtyhms, counting and timing in flamenco guitar but also he learned us how to "feel the flamenco music". It was a great experience for me to take part in his class & workshops in Istanbul. Thank you maestro, thank you for everything..

Madrid - SpainAlvaro is a great teacher and person. I started with my flamenco guitar lessons a couple of months ago to learn the concepts of dance accompaniment. I always saw flamenco as something unattainable, but through his lessons everything makes sense. His patience to explain the concepts beyond technique is invaluable. The video recordings with his explanation after each lesson are very helpful to study on your own. Absolutely recommended!

London - UKDuring my first flamenco guitar lesson I had a really good time and Alvaro was passionate. Sometimes I don't understand the exercises very well and Alvaro needs to teach me slowly for me to understand better. He is a very serious person if I don't make my homework...haha... I love the fact that you want to get the best out of me. Thank you for everything Alvaro!
